Radio personali- ties Jay Michaels and Rick Andrews, along with Miracle Mom Delaine Hale, will highlight stories of children in the Concho Valley who have been treated at Shannon Medical Center. During the three-day event, the 2018 Miracle Kids will be introduced, and lis- teners will hear updates on past Miracle Kids. The outstanding medical staff at Shannon Medical Center, the ones that make the miracles happen, will be on the air to discuss the Miracle Kids and explain more about needed items on the 2018 Children’s Miracle Network Wish List. EVENTS CALENDAR The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has designated Shannon Medical Center as a Level 2 Neonatal Facility (Special Care Nursery) in Perinatal Care Region-K. This state designation is valid for a three-year period. “Shannon is to be commended for its commitment to ensure quality care for neonatal patients in their area,” says John Hellerstedt, MD, Texas DSHS Commissioner. CARING FOR OUR SMALLEST PATIENTS “Shannon was the first level 2 neonatal unit in Texas to be surveyed by the Texas EMS Trauma and Acute Care Foun- dation and one of the first level 2 neonatal units to receive designation,” says Stacie Elizondo, BSN, RNC-MNN, Shannon Women’s & Children’s Hospital Administrative Director. “As a level 2 Special Care Nursery, San Angelo and the surrounding communities can expect that Shannon will continue to provide the same level of specialty and intensive care that our patients and families are accustomed to.” Find out how Shannon cares for newborns in need.
