Mares is now able to share outings like these after be- ing the first patient to undergo a TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) procedure at Shan- non. The proce- dure is a minimally invasive method of replacing the aortic valve in the heart and can help patients that are too sick or high risk to undergo open- heart surgery.
